Do you ever feel like the world is too much for you? Like there are too many things to do and not enough time in which to do them all? That’s how I feel sometimes. It’s difficult to find time for myself, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done! Here are 20 ways to clear your mind.
This may seem like an odd way to clear your mind, but it really works! When your environment is clean and clutter-free, you’ll feel more at ease. Spend some time each day organizing your belongings. It will help you feel more in control of your life.
This is a great way to clear your head and release any tension you may be feeling. Exercise releases endorphins, which make you feel happy and relaxed. A brisk walk or a light jog are both great exercises to help you clear your mind.
Take a break.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a few minutes to yourself to relax and clear your mind. Shut off your phone, computer, and all other electronics and just sit quietly for a few minutes. Let the stressors of the day wash away as you breathe in and out deeply.
Meditation is a great way to focus on the present moment and clear your mind of any distractions. There are many different ways to meditate, so find one that works best for you. Sit in a quiet place, close your eyes, and focus on your breath.
Write down your thoughts.
This is a great way to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper. When you have a lot of things swirling around in your mind, it can be difficult to focus on anything else. Writing them down will help clear your mind and allow you to focus on the task at hand.
Make a list.
Similar to writing down your thoughts, making a list can help you organize your thoughts and priorities. When you have a list of things to do, you’ll feel less overwhelmed and more in control.
Take a bath.
A hot bath is a great way to relax your body and clear your mind. Add some soothing aromatherapy or add a few drops of lavender oil to your bathtub to help you relax.
Talk to a friend.
This is a great way to get things off your chest and clear your mind. Talking to someone who will listen and understand can be very helpful in releasing any stress or tension you may be feeling.
Retreat to a quiet place.
Sometimes we just need to get away from it all and retreat to a quiet place where we can relax and clear our heads. Take a trip somewhere, if you can, or find a quiet spot in your home where you can sit and think.
Exercise your imagination.
Often times when we’re feeling stressed, we forget that our imaginations are an effective way of coping with stressors that seem overwhelming at the moment. Try this: close your eyes and picture yourself in a peaceful and calming environment. It could be on top of a mountain, by the ocean, or by a waterfall – anywhere where you feel relaxed is fine! Focus on everything you until you feel calm again.
Read a book.
Reading is another great way to clear your mind. Pick up an interesting, but not overly complicated, book and lose yourself in the story. You’ll be surprised by how quickly you forget about the things making you stressed.
Listen to some calming music.
Music has the power to change our mood, so listen to some relaxing tunes if you’re feeling overwhelmed with stress or tension. Classical music works well for this purpose, but choose whatever genre you feel most relaxed listening to. Chopin is my favorite composer when I need to relax!
Take a nap (if time permits).
Sometimes we just get really tired and need a little nap to help us recover and clear our minds. If you can, take a short snooze right in the middle of your workday. You’ll feel much more refreshed afterward.
Take a weekend getaway (if money permits).
Sometimes we just need to reconnect with ourselves and enjoy some rest and relaxation, far away from our daily routines. Find someone you trust with your wellbeing and schedule a weekend getaway where you can take time for yourself without distractions or obligations to others. You’ll be grateful for this time alone!
Spend some time outdoors.
Being in nature is very calming for most people, so spend some time outside on days when you’re feeling overwhelmed with stress levels or tension building up inside of you. Take a short walk in the woods, sit by the ocean, or go camping if that’s something that appeals to you.
Research mindfulness techniques online.
Every person is different, so what works for one may not work as well for someone else. Try a few mindfulness exercises and see which ones feel right to you, then practice them daily or weekly to help keep your mind clear and calm.
Use essential oils.
Aromatherapy has been used for centuries because of its ability to naturally calm the mind and reduce stress levels. Lavender oil is a great example of an essential oil that’s good for reducing tension and calming the body down after a long day at work!
Ask for help (if you haven’t already)
Many people like to be independent, but it’s important to ask for help when we need it! If your workload is becoming overwhelming and you feel like you can’t handle everything on your own, let someone in so they can assist with what needs done. This will not only help lighten your load, but you’ll likely feel more relaxed knowing someone else is helping.
Clean up a cluttered space (or start a new hobby).
We often accumulate a lot of clutter around the house and office without even realizing it! Decluttering can be a great way to clear the mind, as it provides a fresh start with minimal distractions from your surroundings.
Find an inspirational quote that speaks to you.
Keep this quote handy on your phone or computer desktop whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed with stress levels – it will remind you that things will get better if they’re meant to be. You may have to go through some tough times in life before finding inner peace, so keep going!
